They have all the data they need and outside of extreme situations I don’t think feelings should be considered at all. I’m with Scrotie on this front, if less adamant about how strict the metrics should be. It just means that I don’t think the game can meaningfully innovate or evolve as long as players/developers hold this opinion in large enough numbers to matter. If it stagnated I would be sad, but ultimately fine. I quite like the game now just as I liked it back when it started. I hope that made some kind of sense.Īnd to clarify when I say the game won’t fundamentally improve that doesn’t mean it is bad now. There isn’t really an in-between where feelings are ‘considered at a minimal level’ while actually impacting the balance of a card or set of cards. They are either nerfing it into the ground to eliminate ‘feelsbad’ or they are just nerfing it into reasonability because it was too strong. If the card is too strong and, coincidentally, felt bad to play against it isn’t like they are nerfing it a little extra. Something is either nerfed because it is too strong or because developers thought it felt too bad to play against. It is a binary switch - either you consider them or you don’t. The problem is that there is no minimal level for including feeling in balance decisions. It is pretty sad that Hearthstone players can’t handle basic TCG mechanics without complaining about how bad it makes them feel though. So if what everyone who comes here to complain wants is a dumbed down game where you throw bad midrange decks at each other until someone dies then that is what Blizzard has to provide to keep the game going. In the same vein though you have to listen to your customer’s to an extent or you end up with a dead product. If people aren’t willing to play against things because of their ‘feels’ then this game might as well delete everything but classic because they’ll never be able to really innovate without having to do what they did to Curselock before the set released. Honestly even in those extreme circumstances it is just not a healthy way to look at a game to balance it/want it balanced. This game will never fundamentally improve as long as the players/developers feel this way outside of extreme circumstances. I do believe we need to take how it feels to face, overall, into consideration, though
